Giving Back

Since we first opened our doors in 1999, Divine Flooring has been actively involved in issues that matter. To us and to so many others. Issues concerning our health. Our environment. Housing for those who need a better place to live.

Our entire team at Divine works with our supplier partners to raise funds for charitable organizations that help children, adults and families recover from illness, secure the housing they need, and enjoy better lives.

This is what we believe in. This is what we do. This is what energizes us each and every day.

Kids with Cancer Society

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor and remember children and families affected by these rare diseases.

Did you know that:

  • Childhood cancer is the number one killer disease in children?
  • Approximately 1 in 333 young people will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20?
  • Only 4% of federal government funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers?

This cause is close to our hearts. Divine President and Founder, Carlos Soares, survived Stage 3 cancer as an adult. He is deeply committed to giving back... not only to lower the risk of childhood cancer by supporting research, but also to reduce trauma for kids and families going through this experience. All of us at Divine proudly and actively support him in achieving these goals.

Cancer research and care - Our playbook

Revving Up for Kids with Cancer Society

Every year since 2006, Divine has been a platinum sponsor for the Look & Stepper Revving Up for Kids with Cancer. Our team has had a blast taking part in this four-day motorcycle adventure through Alberta and British Columbia. To date, we've raised over $84,000.00, with 100% of the funds going directly to supporting children diagnosed with cancer, and their siblings and parents.

The Annual Tom Baker Cancer Centre Golf Classic

We love teeing off each year at this 15-year-old tradition held at the Heritage Pointe Golf Club in Calgary. So far, over $1.9 million dollars have been raised toward cancer research and patient care.

Building homes that build better lives

El Salvador Project

The Divine team sponsored and participated in a significant charity event organized by Stepper Custom Homes. Funding was provided for 40 employees and spouses to go to El Salvador to build 16 homes in just 20 days! One of those homes was purchased by Divine for a family in need.

El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America, with many of its people existing in extreme poverty and living in poorly constructed homes. The lives of the people of El Salvador were devastated when Hurricane Ida came through and took out over 16,000 homes, leaving these people with no place to call home. For more information on this project, please visit Stepper Custom Homes.

Mary Dover Project

The YWCA constructed the Mary Dover House in the early 1900's to provide safe and affordable housing for women and children. At Divine, we were proud to get involved with the expansion and renovation of this fine home in 2005.

Bob Ward Residence Project

The Bob Ward Residence provides affordable housing for people with mental illness and brain injuries. It contains 61 units, including a special unit for brain injury rehabilitation. We were fortunate to be part of the team that completed the project in October 2003.

Calgary Home Builders Foundation

On a per-project basis, our team at Divine donates labour, materials and/or dollars to help this foundation build affordable shelters for homeless and disadvantaged people in Calgary.
